Being proactive

Jan 12, 2014 | Leadership & Culture

“Proactive people can carry their own weather with them. Whether it rains or shines makes no difference to them. They are value driven; and if their value is to produce good quality work, it isn’t a function of whether the weather is conducive to it or not..” Highly Effective people Steven R Covey.

Being proactive is about thinking and acting ahead. This means when something does happen you have already thought around or through the problem.

• Look at what you do.
• Examine how you can do better – the process, your skills and your resources.

• Recruit other ideas and gather information. Look at the what ifs!
• Don’t be afraid of your ideas.
• Develop a mind set of solving problems instead of dwelling on what is wrong.
• The only way to get ride of a problem is to solve it.
• Find out what can be done and what options you have.
• Remember there is always another way “another fish in the sea” or another door to be opened.

We all look at proactive people as being leaders(and they are) but really they are just people who take action think outside the square and take a little risk with their ideas.
