Tips on Business Plans – Business Planning

Business Plans:

A large % of business people I met don’t have a Business Plan. It is often all in their head – which is then easily forgotten or messed up with every other daily occurrence in their minds.

The Old Saying “if you fail to plan you plan to fail” is quite true – if you are going for a holiday you plan or take a map with you. Why not plan your business, which is a far bigger issue and more time consuming in your life. You don’t need a 40 page document that sits on the shelf and gathers dust. There are of course “horses for courses” if you are looking for finance or an investor then you will need the appropriate plan.

BUT FOR YOURSELF you need focus, scope, relevant research to help plan and clear strategies and actions measurements and timelines. This all in a one page document on the wall of your office where you are reminded each day of what needs to be done.

Your plan:

  • Vision and Mission
  • Management – skills what you have, what you need to learn.
  • Customers – targets and their needs and your matching packages/service/product.
  • Suppliers – who and when will you review.
  • Goals – Strategies – Actions, measurements, time lines
  • And the Risk what if’s.

Put this into a one page concise plan on the wall.
