Time for Innovation

Change is a Catalyse for Innovation

Without change there is no innovation, creativity, or incentive for improvement. Those who initiate change will have a better opportunity to manage the change that is inevitable. William Pollard

We are certainly going through changing times in business at the moment. This is just the time to take a small step and do something differently in your business.

The way your business is seen –

The way your systems work to become more efficient –

Or may be a small change to your products or services –

So NOW is the time for you to take a leadership step and allocate time for creativity and innovation. To do things differently – new products, new ways of thinking, new ways of looking at things something you have invented but still not tried, something already in use but just not tried in your field, something radical, something simple.

What needs to be improved in your business?

Innovation can be in your employee’s empowerment, new partnerships, customer’s partnerships, business environment, leadership, management processes, performance management but most of all you must allow time for creativity and change.

Don’t confuse invention and innovation – innovation is about being creative and being game to implement that creativity.

It is a Risk yes but isn’t that what business is about – Risk? A calculated one but a risk.

Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go… T.S.Eliot

Barriers for Innovation:

  • Not allocating time for creativity and Ideas to unfold.
  • Too much complacency.
  • High stress factors over other things.
  • Failure to look at coalitions and partnership opportunities.
  • Underestimating the power of your vision.
  • Not communicating that vision.
  • Permitting obstacles and “too risky” to block the vision or creativity.
  • Not trying.
  • Not implementing the whole idea.
  • Not pursuing the dreams.

# Why not take a dfferent look at your issues and problems: Simply looking at them as challenges rather than problems is one simple step.

# Looking at the problem as if it was the absolute opposite problem – helps find different ways and removes blockages.

Open the doors to Innovation:

  • Giving energy and moment to an idea.
  • Create passion – what energy do you have for solving the issue.
  • Allow time for discussion and thought, creativity and imagination to flow without constraints.
  • Celebrate the ideas – even if you doubt there success-ability.
  • Encourage and develop- use the 6 thinking hats idea.
  • >Be courageous – do a trial.
  • Develop a program within your workforce for diversity, creativity and innovation.

Most companies are too afraid to make mistakes and they think small or expect the big but sometimes it’s the small change that reaps the reward.

Your intuition is powerful; Use it. Keep your desires burning. Don’t be afraid to take careful chances….
